COMMAND & CONTROL

The Command & Control system is responsible for just that, the command and control frameworks of SpudNik-1. This system not only controls the overall CubeSat, but allows all the other subsystems to work together. As of the 2018-2019 academic year the main focus of the C&C team has been the attitude control system, which is a fancy way of saying the system that makes sure the satellite is pointing the way we want it to. This attitude system breaks down into: attitude determination, which determines what way the satellite is pointing; and attitude control, which can then rotate the satellite to the right position. The C&C team is also responsible for the position sensing system, which is done using an on-board GPS. The team also began developing the early frameworks of the command system, creating software flowcharts that in the coming years will be turned into code. This code will allow the satellite to execute commands like taking pictures and communicating with the ground station here on Earth.
