The communications team is responsible for the system that will allow for contact between SpudNik-1 and the ground station which is located in Newfoundland. There are three parts to the communications system: the transceiver, the antennas, and a deployment unit. The antennas cannot be sticking out during launch, so the deployment unit must be designed to hold them in place until after the CubeSat has been ejected from the International Space Station (ISS).
